Virginia and Latakia are the foundation for Rattray's full bodied English offering. Orientals bring a touch of earthiness to compliment the smokey Latakias, and a pinch of Cavendish highlights the natural sweetness of the Virginias. The body rates full while the taste comes back to a medium level, and the room note should be very smokey.
I expected the Latakias to be forward in this blend, but they tasted more mellow in my bowl. A natural sweetness dominates the bowl and mellows to a pleasant earthiness toward the end. I would put the body of this one more to the medium end than a full, but the flavor definitely lived up to the medium billing. Give this one a try for an after work smoke.
