Scottish Blend has been around since 1958 because of its mild sweetness and mild + / medium body. Plus, the ready rub cut makes for easy packing and cooler smoke. The combination of Virginia, Burley, and Cavendish continues to please pipesmokers.
Now, I like flakes and ready-rubs exactly for the reasons mentioned above. I find they can offer a longer, cooler smoke because of the thicker cut. The flavor here is natural tobacco; there is some enhanced sweetness from a flavoring on the Cavendishes. However, the star of the show is the blend of Virginia and Burley.
